We take the safety of our customers and team importantly, which is why we have carried out a thorough risk assessment of our procedures based on the latest government guidelines regarding reopening of pubs, bars and restaurants. Below are some of the actions we are taking to ensure the safety of everyone at Chapter, and some of the changes we have made to our ways of working.

  • It is no longer mandatory to 'check in' to our venue using the track+trace app. However, if you wish to do so please ask a member of the team for the QR code.

  • We have tables of up to 6 people available for walk-ins. We don't take bookings for groups of up to 6 people at any time. For groups of 7+ please talk to a member of the team who will be happy to take your booking. Alternatively you can email us to reserve your table!

  • Most of our tables are safely 1m (or more) apart from the next table. Our waiting staff will try not to come within 1m of your table other than when completely necessary (e.g. to put drinks on your table). NB: some of our tables are closer together than 1m, however during quieter times you will be offered a choice of where to sit.

  • Where possible, please try to enter the venue via the front door (from Prospect Street) and exit via the back door (into Chester Street car park)

  • Customers are encouraged to sanitise their hands regularly, especially upon arrival. Hand-washing facilities are available in the bathrooms and sanitising stations are positioned around the bar.

  • Parents must be responsible for ensuring that children sit at their table and do not wander around.

  • In adverse weather conditions customers may not wait inside to shelter from the weather, as this will impede on the social distancing measures in place inside.

  • Where possible, we have arranged for deliveries and contractors to arrive outside of opening hours to limit contact with customers and staff.

  • Our team are all carrying out new procedures to ensure that they adhere to social distancing guidelines, including when, how and where they take their breaks, how and when they arrive to work and not putting on their uniform until they arrive at work.

  • We are monitoring the latest guidance from the government regarding wearing of PPE, including face masks, in public spaces. At present it is not mandatory to wear a face mask in pubs, bars and restaurants. We have provided gloves and aprons for our staff and it is their discretion what level of PPE they wish to wear at work.

  • Our team will remain 1m away from customers and one another wherever possible. On occasion, where this is impossible to do, they will do so for only a few seconds (e.g. placing drinks on tables).

  • We continue to operate table service throughout the venue, however you may approach the bar if you wish. Payment will be taken at your table also. NB: we are not accepting cash as payment for the foreseeable.

  • Cutlery, condiments, napkins, menus and other items will be brought over to your table just before your food arrives. Condiments will be single use so if you do not require them please let your waiter/ess know.

  • Menus are available online via QR code. Printed menus can be brought to your table when you sit down and left with you for the duration of your visit, they will then be taken away and sanitised before being re-used.

  • Our team will have assigned working 'zones' so your waiter will remain the same person throughout the night, minimising the contact between customers and staff.

  • Staff will be carrying out a number of new procedures to retain social distancing behind the bar and between one another during service. Please bear with us during this time as we adapt but we aim to provide a welcoming, professional and prompt service at all times.

  • We encourage customers to wash their hands as much as possible during their visit and facilities are provided to the rear of the venue.

  • Facilities are cleaned on an hourly basis, restocked and bins emptied.

  • Our cleaning schedule has reviewed and frequency of checks have been increased. This includes the regular use of anti-virucidal spray on all frequent touch points – such as the card machine, till, phone, door knobs, locks & handles.
